Community Grower Spotlight: Nikki Halverson

Creative Foods and Cannabis Cultivator I Ignite Dispensary Wisconsin

Nikki Halverson, Creative Foods and Cannabis Cultivator at Ignite Dispensary

In Wisconsin’s growing cannabis scene, few people bring as much passion and creativity to the plant as Nikki Halverson. With a Master Gardener certification through UW Extension and over five years of cannabis cultivation experience, Nikki blends science, art, and a love of nature to create products that connect people to cannabis in meaningful ways.

The Journey

Nikki’s path to cannabis cultivation began in 2020 while working at Ignite Dispensary, where she started by making CBD-infused soaps. When she was invited to join the grow team, she discovered a new passion: bringing cannabis to life from seed to harvest. Nikki loves foraging and creating with plants and mushrooms, crafting everything from tinctures and salves to edible infusions.

The most rewarding part of cultivation for Nikki is watching plants grow, ripen, and reach their full potential. Trimming is her favorite step, she finds it meditative. But what truly fuels her work is hearing from customers who share how her products have helped them sleep, manage pain, or simply enjoy a great night with friends.

Community Impact

At Ignite Dispensary, Nikki plays a vital role in normalizing cannabis through education. She grows in full view of customers through the store’s observation window, offering a rare seed-to-flower experience. By inviting people to watch the process and ask questions, Nikki helps break down stigma and encourages open, informed conversations about cannabis as medicine.

Looking Ahead

Nikki’s vision for the future is rooted in collaboration and innovation. She hopes to integrate mushrooms, bees, and cannabis into her growing practices and host farm-to-table cannabis dinners. Networking with chefs, restaurants, and other growers is high on her list, as she dreams of sharing her infused spices and products with a wider audience.

Shared Insights

For those considering growing cannabis, Nikki’s advice is simple: start small. “Sometimes two plants and dialing it in is best,” she says. “You need to actually spend time with the plants and observe what they’re telling you. Every run is different.”
