Community Spotlight: Cowboy Cannabis Company

Based in Motley, MN, Cowboy Cannabis Company is more than a cannabis business, it’s a movement rooted in sustainability, equity, and community. Founded by lifelong agriculturalist and cannabis advocate Jonathan Giberson Jr., the company evolved from Wagon Rest Ranch, a regenerative farm he launched in 2017, into one of Minnesota’s early Social Equity Applicant microbusinesses.

Jonathan’s decade-long, multi-state cannabis experience and commitment to living soil cultivation uniquely positioned Cowboy Cannabis to thrive in Minnesota’s emerging market. “We all come from different backgrounds and congregate over this one plant,” he shares.

The company is currently building a cultivation center in Pillager designed to serve both production and education. They aim to normalize cannabis in rural communities by promoting conscious consumption, collaborating with local businesses, and advocating for strong, in-state industry standards.

“Community and collaboration are a pivotal point of success in Minnesota,” Jonathan says. With license pre-approval secured, Cowboy Cannabis is focused on expanding responsibly while staying true to its local roots.
