Evolving the Industry was Canna Connect’s most meaningful event yet. The room was filled with a mix of people from every corner of the cannabis industry. Single-store operators catching up with other local business owners, enterprise-level software companies talking shop, entrepreneurs making introductions, and industry professionals finally getting to connect face-to-face outside of a trade show floor.

For one evening, the Minneapolis Club became a space where Minnesota cannabis professionals could simply exist together openly, professionally, and proudly.

This event was genuinely a joy to plan and even more fun to attend, and a huge part of that goes to Don Raleigh III and the team at Evolve Payment. From the beginning, our goal wasn’t just to throw another networking event. We wanted to create an atmosphere that elevated the industry and showed what cannabis networking in Minnesota can look like when people put intention behind it.

And honestly? Walking up to the Minneapolis Club and seeing the Canna Connect and Evolve Payment logos illuminated on the side of the building was one of those moments that makes you stop for a second and take it all in.

There’s something powerful about seeing the cannabis industry gathered inside such a historic location. It really puts things into perspective. Our network isn’t something to hide from or treat like a temporary trend. It’s becoming part of Minnesota’s business community, culture, and history in real time. Seeing Minnesota cannabis professionals networking under chandeliers, dressed to the nines, inside a club with decades of history behind it felt symbolic in the best way possible.

We asked our network to dress their best, and they absolutely delivered. Long dresses, high heels, tailored jackets, bowties, polished dress shoes, the entire room looked incredible. It shifted the energy immediately. People carried themselves differently. Conversations felt elevated. The industry looked professional because the industry is professional.

One of my favorite parts of the night was seeing people bring their partners, whether personal or business. Having my spouse there was incredibly special for me personally. Being able to introduce him to the people who are truly helping move this industry forward meant a lot. So much of the work in cannabis happens behind screens, through meetings, events, and long hours, so getting to share that world with someone you care about is a reminder of why these community moments matter.

The atmosphere throughout the night was exactly what we hoped for. Green lights painted the walls while trays of hors d'oeuvres floated throughout the room. Guests sipped on non-dosed cans of The Green Standard while music played softly in the background. But the real soundtrack of the evening was the constant hum of conversation. People reconnecting. Sharing ideas. Talking about challenges, wins, partnerships, and the future of the industry in Minnesota.

One unexpected highlight of the evening was when Brian O'Hara, who had been giving a speech to Minneapolis Club members on the floor above, came downstairs and joined the celebration. Moments like that are reminders of how much the perception around cannabis in Minnesota continues to evolve. These spaces and conversations are becoming more normalized, more accepted, and more integrated into the broader business community.

At the end of the night, what stood out most wasn’t the venue or the lighting or even the turnout. It was the feeling in the room. The sense that our community is continuing to grow up, mature, and build something lasting.

Evolving the Industry was one of the clearest examples of what our community can look like when people come together with intention. 

I, for one, am incredibly excited about what’s next for the Minnesota cannabis industry.
